The corona pandemic spoilt all plans, and when I say all plans, I mean the new year resolutions that we had wrought for ourselves. Now with the virus not leaving anytime soon, many plans like traveling, TV shows, and movies have taken a major set back. All we can do now is, apart from hoping against the hope for the virus to go away, we can re-watch all the good TV shows and movies and feel nostalgic about it.
One of the shows, I think everybody should watch is Death Note, the anime TV show that aired for a year between 2006 and 2007. Of course, season one ended on a cliffhanger, but the makers Toshiki Inoue and Takeshi Obata did not provide any information if the show would be renewed for a new season. But, now, rumors are making rounds that show might make a comeback, good news for all the anime fans amidst this pandemic.
The story was based on a high school boy by day and a vigilante by night, killing off people he found written in a diary. Since Light Yagami lost when Ryuk wrote his own name on the death note, and the show ended on this note, nobody knows if there would be a comeback. It’s been thirteen years since season one ended, and although it’s a pretty long time, we know many other series that take time off just as this (Sherlock, for instance).
As of now, we are not sure when season two would make a comeback, but if rumors are to be believed, we could expect something good by the end of the year or in early 2021.
Most of the cast is set to appear with Brad Swaile as Light Yagami, Aya Hirano as Misa Amane, and Nakamura as Ryuk.
The storyline might pick up from where it was left with Light Yagami and Ryuk in a faceoff after the latter writes his own name.
All we can do now is as we hope for the virus to go, we can hope for the anime to come back.
