“Borderlands 3”: New Season picks up seven years after Handsome “Jack’s death” in Borderlands 2!

Borderlands, the hit action/role-playing first-person shooter game is back with its newest offering, Borderlands 3. Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, Borderlands 3, the 4th main and fifth overall entry into the Borderlands series, is the sequel to 2012’s Borderlands 2. The game released on 13th September 2019 with generally favorable reviews from critics. It was a commercial success as well, selling more than five million copies within five days release.

Gameplay: Borderlands 3

Like the previous games in the series, Borderlands 3 is a first-person loot shooter set in an open world. Players can play alone or in parties of up to four people. Players can take missions from NPCs, fight enemies, obtain loots from defeated enemies. Various weapons can be bought with in-game money or they can be gained by completing missions. The game starts on the planet Pandora but players can board a spacecraft to visit other planets where vaults have been identified.

Characters: Borderlands 3

Multiple characters from the previous games return in Borderlands 3. Characters of Borderlands 2, such as Maya, Zer0, Brick, Mordecai, Claptrap and etc return as NPCs. The game also introduces four new playable characters: Amara, a siren; Moze, a young gunner; Zane, an operative; and FL4K, a robot beastmaster.

Story: Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 picks up seven years after Handsome Jack’s death in Borderlands 2 and six years after the events of ‘Tales from the Borderlands’. The four new playable characters join Lilith’s Crimson Raiders and are sent to investigate the Children of The Vault cult and their mysterious leaders, who are believed to have the vault map in their possession. Upon getting the map back the Crimson Raiders and its allies get aboard the spacecraft ‘Sanctuary 3’ and traverse the galaxy to claim the vaults in other planets before Calypso gets hold of them.

DLC: Borderlands 3

On 21st May 2020, Gearbox Software announced Borderlands 3: Bounty of Blood, the major downloadable content of the game. Scheduled to release on 25th June, the game seems to have a wild west theme and players might get to play as completely new characters in the DLC. Additionally, Borderlands 3 will have three more DLCs released.
