Beau Willimon’s political thriller “House of cards” is an adaption of the 1990 BBC miniseries of the same name. It is based on Michael Dobbs’s novel “House of Cards”. The series was premiered with 13 episodes on February 1, 2013, on Netflix.
“House of Cards” is based out of Washington, D.C. It follows the story of Congressman, Democrat and House Majority Whip, Frank Underwood and his ambitious wife Claire Underwood. Frank initiates an elaborate plan to become the secretary of the state with the help of his wife. The theme of this series is pragmatism, betrayal, manipulation, and power.
We will not get a season 7 as the previous season is the end of this American show. The fate of this series wasn’t destined like this. Season six was under production with Kevin Spacey but Spacey was removed from the show when allegations of sexual assaults came out against him. He was alleged to assault multiple men and some minors sexually. His character was killed off to keep him out from the show. But the show went on for another season even after this incident but declared that season 6 is the end of this show. Season six was released in 2018 consisting of 8 episodes.
“House of Cards” received love and positive reviews from critics. It also nominated for several awards including 33 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series nominations. The show also bagged eight Golden Globe award nominations. Despite its great influence on the audience, it is unfortunate that the series will not be renewed. Therefore, there is no rumor about the renewal of season 7.
Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood was dropped before season 6. The rest of the cast will remain the same if the makers of the show change their minds and renew one more season. We expect to see Robin Wright as Claire Underwood, Kate Mara as Zoe Barnes, Corey Stoll as Peter Russo, Michael Kelly as Douglas Stamper playing major roles in the upcoming season.
As there is no affirmation of season 7, we can indulge ourselves in previous seasons until any updates come out.
