The 2018 Oscar-winning movie Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, that depicts teenage web-slinging rookie Miles Morales coming together with other versions of the Marvel character from alternate dimensions is coming back with a bang. And fans are going crazy over the much-anticipated sequel.
Here’s what we know so far.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse 2: Release Date
We have received a new notification from the Spiderverse! The sequel is set to release on October 7th, 2022. It is a delay from the original April 2022 release date.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse 2: Cast
We have no updates as to the cast of the sequel. But we can safely bet that Shameik Moore (as the voice of Miles Morales) and Hailee Steinfeld (as Gwen Stacey aka Spider-Woman) will reprise their roles in the new movie.
Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’s father Jefferson Davis, Luna Lauren Velez as Miles’s mother Rio Morales, and Kathryn Hahn as Doc Ock, are also expected. They are reported to have a bigger role in the movie.
Plenty of spidey versions co-habit the Universes and animators are already exploring which characters to include in the mix.
The sequel will also feature a rather loved Japanese live-action adaptation of Spider-Man, confirmed in late 2019. This was confirmed when a fan on Twitter offered to design the character for the sequel; Producer Phil Lord replied that the job was already done.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse 2: Plot
Phil Lord tweeted, “We were reminded several times today NOT to say anything about it. I guess they know we can’t be trusted. All I can say is… worked on it all day yesterday and had a ball. Watching this got me pumped for all the surprises in store for 2022.” This is all we know regarding the storyline of the sequel – which adds nothing to our knowledge.
However, per previous reports, the storyline will revolve around the budding romance between Miles and Gwen. Also what with the teasing of Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) in the post-credit scene in the first movie, fans can expect his appearance in the sequel.
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse: Storyline
The gang consisting of varying reiterations of the superhero comes together to prevent Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) from destroying reality. All goes well in the end and they all return to their universes. Following this success, the former gang (with some additions) will presumably have another challenge coming and thus once again unite, in the new movie.
