Matrix 4 is the fourth installment of The Matrix franchise. An American sci-fi film is co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski. The movie is set to release on May 21, 2022, almost a year-long delay from the original schedule. The film was first announced on August 20, 2019.
The cast of the film touched down in Berlin to continue shooting. Filming had begun in San Francisco in February 2020 under the code name “Project Ice Cream”, later moving to Berlin.
In another context, the city workers and citizens of San Francisco expressed anguish over damages done to the buildings and street lights. Wachowski directed all the scenes without requiring a second unit. Filming is remaining to be done in Chicago too.
Priyanka Jonas Chopra has also joined the cast. Hugo Weaving will NOT be returning to play his role as Agent Smith, which he confirmed back in January.
Previous seasons seemingly did not leave anything hanging for the new season to cover. Hence, we have no speculations for the fans about what they can expect in the film.
Lana Wachowski has not revealed anything, neither has the cast. However, Lana did say in a statement that, “Many of the ideas [sister] Lilly [Wachowski] and I explored 20 years ago about our reality is even more relevant now.” “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”
These friends include Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell, who worked alongside Lana in making the script for The Matrix 4. They both appeared in an episode of Sense8, Lana’s Netflix Series.
As far as we know, the sister will not be involved in the film. Warner Bros. trusts Lana, who they consider to be “a singular and original creative filmmaker.”
Chad Stahelski, Keanu Reeves’ stunt double and stunt coordinator, will return for the upcoming sequel.
It is still early for us to get a glimpse of the film. You can expect a teaser by the end of the year or next year.
