“Suicide Squad 2”: “Harley Quinn”, and the supervillain gang will return soon! Find out the release date, cast details and more!

Suicide Squad 2 is the upcoming sequel of the 2016 Suicide Squad movie. It is the second entry to the ‘Suicide Squad’ series and the tenth film in the DCEU. The film franchise is based on the DC supervillain team of the same name. The first film focuses on building the squad up by recruiting already imprisoned supervillains and having them deal with issues that threaten the world. Following the success of Suicide Squad (2016), fans have been eagerly anticipating a sequel.

Plans for the sequel began shortly before the release of the first movie, with David Ayers set to return to direct it. But unfortunately, the film had to change directors twice due to creative differences. In October 2018, James Gunn was hired to write the sequel, and he was also given the directing role in January 2019.

Suicide Squad 2: Release date

Suicide Squad 2 was scheduled to hit the theatres on August 6, 2021. But the Covid-19 pandemic left the fans wondering whether the sequel would release on schedule. Fortunately for the fans, Suicide Squad 2 won’t be delayed. James Gunn, the director of the film, has confirmed that the production of the movie is going according to plan. Filming had wrapped up in February 2020, and only the post-production work remains. The movie is in the process of editing at the moment. So fans can expect to see Harley Quinn & Co at the theatres on the scheduled release date.

Suicide Squad 2: Expected plot

No details about the plot have been revealed yet. But reportedly, Suicide Squad 2 will work as a soft reboot for the franchise. The task force consisting of supervillains will probably be dispatched on another dangerous mission. Viewers can expect an action-packed movie that will make the viewers both laugh and cry at times. Rumors suggest that the sequel will also have some character deaths, so fans can start preparing themselves for that as well.

Suicide Squad 2: Possible cast & characters

Most of the main cast for Suicide Squad 2 has already been announced. Compared to the first film, Suicide Squad 2 boasts a big ensemble cast full of powerful actors. Most of the primary cast from the 2016 movie will make their return, including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn; Viola Davis as Amanda Wallace; Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag; Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, among others. But fans waiting to see Will Smith’s Deadshot return in the sequel will be disappointed, as he won’t feature in Suicide Squad 2 although fans might get to see him in later installments of the franchise.

Additionally, lots of big-name actors will be introduced as new characters in Suicide Squad 2. Actors such as John Cena, who’ll play Peacemaker; Steve Agee as King Shark; and Idris Elba, Taika Waititi, Sean Gunn, will also be seen in the movie.

Suicide Squad 2: Trailer

Fans will be disappointed to know that they’ll have to wait for some time to see a trailer or teaser of Suicide Squad 2. The current situation in the world has affected the post-production process, so a trailer won’t be available for a while.

Suicide Squad 2: Director James Gunn confirmed for DC FanDome event

Taking place on August 22, DC’s FanDome event is a virtual, 24-hour convention. The event will be full of new information about upcoming and future DC projects. Additionally, fans will be excited to know that Suicide Squad 2 director, James Gunn, will be present at the event along with the cast.
