Based on the All Souls trilogy written by Deborah Harkness, A Discovery of Witches (ADOW) is a British TV program. It premiered on Sky One on 14 September 2018, soon becoming the most popular drama of 2018. Subsequently in November, it was renewed for a second and third season, written off the books, Shadow of Night and The Book of Life.

Discovery of Witches Season 2: Release Date
The show’s official Twitter account revealed back in December 2019 that the UK production was completed. One week later, they announced that two more weeks of filming and it will be over.
If not for our other favorite shows, ADOW has dodged all the troubles. Hence, Season 2 can air anytime since it escaped the social distancing restrictions and the lockdown measures.
Discovery of Witches Season 2: Cast
Teresa Palmer (as Diana Bishop) and Matthew Goode (as Matthew Clairmont) will return as the leads of the show.
The other characters that will reprise their roles are Sarah Bishop (Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston), Emily Mather (Valarie Pettiford), Nathaniel Wilson (Daniel Ezra), Marcus Whitmore (Killing Eve‘s Edward Bluemel) and Sophie Norman (Aisling Loftus).
Among those who will join the cast include Outlander’s Steven Cree Doctor Who’s Sheila Hancock, The Following’s James Purefoy, and Vincent and Theo’s Paul Rhys.
Discovery of Witches Season 2: Plot
In Deborah’s world, witches, vampires, and daemons live alongside humans. The second season of A Discovery of Witches is based on the novel ‘Shadow of Night’ and will run for ten episodes.
Witches and vampires form an alliance to find the Book of Life and unravel the hidden “secret about the magical beings.”
Diana, a witch, takes shelter with witch hunter Ysabeau De Clermont at her ancestral home Sept-Tours with her aunts Sarah and Em. Matthew Clairmont offers her help. The vampires Marcus and Miriam take his mantle in order to protect daemons Nathaniel and Sophie who is pregnant.
Bad Wolf and Sky Productions produce the show. Cameron Roach, Sky Studios Director of Drama, said: “After the success of season one, we are really excited for the next installment of A Discovery of Witches, as we continue to follow the love story of Diana and Matthew and their adventures in Elizabethan London. We have a great cast lined up and a unique historical setting, which we hope will further enchant fans.”
Sky also revealed a first look image in September 2019, that shows Matthew (Matthew Goode) and Diana (Teresa Palmer) on the streets of Elizabethan London, where they are hiding in time from the Congregation.
Discovery of Witches: Reception
The show received a positive response both from the critics and the audience, pulling in a commendable two million viewers. It has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – “A Discovery of Witches smartly grounds its flights of fancy with a lived-in authenticity and harnesses the chemistry between its two star-crossed leads to make for a promising foray into the occult.”
