Created by Steven Knight, Peaky Blinders is a British crime drama television series that premiered on 12 September 2013. It aired on BBC Two for four seasons, shifting to BBC One for the fifth season.
Steven Knight revealed that the pandemic forced changes in the way the sixth season was being filmed. The shooting was due to begin this year, however, the global situation has halted the production for a while. When will we get to see Season 6? Does Tommy Shelby die at his own hands?
Keep your eyes glued to the screen because, in two minutes, we’ll reveal everything on the tab!
Peaky Blinders Season 6: Release Date
The latest season aired on 25 August 2019 up until 22 September 2019 on BBC One. If this is telling us anything, it is that the sixth season can release anytime soon.
We know that the production was underway before the pandemic hit. However, we don’t know when it will resume. The release date is still unconfirmed, which is likely to change considering the situation. We can bet on a 2021 release but don’t hold us against it later.
Peaky Blinders Season 6: Cast
Cillian Murphy plays the character of Tommy Shelby who is seen distressed at the end of the last season, holding a gun against his head.
Other returning characters include Lizzie Shelby, Finn Shelby, Johnny Dogs, Jessie Eden, Oswald Mosley, among others.
Season five and six directors Anthony Byrne also confirmed a new female character who will play a “dark” character.
Peaky Blinders Season 6: Plot
In a live interview with Digital Spy, Anthony revealed that the new season will begin from where it left off in the previous season, with Tommy with his gun.
Steven Knight has said that the sixth season will be into the thirties when World War Two is right about to begin. It will be about the rise of fascism, nationalism, and racism and it will be relevant in the present too. It is still unclear, though, about the plot. He told NME, “In series six, we’ll be looking at 1934 and things are worse,” Knight said. “The drumbeat is getting louder, tensions are worse and Tommy is right in the middle of all that. Again, it will be an exploration of what was going on in the ’30s and how certain things transpired. I’m writing it at the moment, and it is a tragedy.”
We have been given the gift of two more seasons that will lead up to The War.
Peaky Blinders Season 6: Storyline
The story is set in Birmingham, England after the First World War ends. It is based on a real-life urban gang of the same name. Thomas Shelby and his brothers return to Birmingham after having served in the army. He is the leader of Peaky Blinders, a violent crime gang, who plans to control the city. His ambitions to build an empire go beyond the city. So strong are his ambitions that he is willing to do anything in order to realize it.
Peaky Blinders Season 6: Trailer
