The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2: Plot and Storyline

This is a story about four young men who are transported to a parallel universe to become Shield Heroes. They fight “waves” who are the figures of monsters, with the weapon exclusive to them. Naofumi happens to have Legendary Shield while others receive weapons like bow, spear, and sword. He is betrayed when his single companion steals his belongings and leaves him. She also accused him of taking advantage of her. Soon, Naofumi turns cynical. But that does not stop him from working to save the world. The second season will see a new dangerous enemy, more powerful than anyone they would have ever seen.

The Rising of the Shield Hero: Reception

The Rising of the Shield Hero received great acclamation from fans and critics alike with an IMDb rating of 8/10. It was not without controversies: the first episode came under the skin for its depiction of slavery and false rape accusation when the Me Too movement was on a rise that time in the US.

Talking on the controversy, the show’s producer Junichiro Tamura said that the show did not raise any controversy in Japan. He promised that if at all such an issue arises in the country, they will take up the issue with the staff involved and take necessary action.

The show has also received its fair share of poor remarks with reviewer Timothy Donohoo describing the show as “as just another generic isekai show, and a poorly done one at that.” This remark was, however, not taken well by the fans who were very vocal about their disappointment with him.
