Netflix has pulled the plugs on (what it is not willing to believe) a much-beloved show, Santa Clarita Diet. There is an apparent reason behind that (more on that later).
Santa Clarita Diet is an American horror-comedy TV series created by Victor Fresco. It premiered on February 3, 2017, with the second season releasing on March 23, 2018. The third season came with a total of ten episodes on March 29, 2019.
Let’s talk about the fourth season now and why Netflix canceled the series disappointing many of its fans.
Santa Clarita Diet Season 4: Release Date
Netflix announced the cancelation of the show on April 26, 2019, instantly breaking hearts all over. The reason why it did was simple: the show did not accumulate the expected viewership, which outweighed the production costs.
With not many numbers on the chart, the show is likely to never come back. Unless another channel picks it up. Let me break it down to you:
Netflix has a clause in the deal that prevents any canceled Netflix shows from releasing in other channels for a period of two or three years.
Considering the present situation, we have to wait and see if we will get to see more of Sheila and Joel’s story.
Santa Clarita Diet Season 4: Cast
If a new season does release, we can expect the same faces again with Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant playing the lead roles Sheila and Joel, respectively. Other returning actors include Liv Hewson, Skyler Cisondo, Mary Elizabeth Elis, Natalie Morales, Jonathan Slavin.
There may be some new additions, but that is all up for guesses.
Santa Clarita Diet Season 4: Plot
With the show seemingly canceled, there is not much that can be known about the plot. However, according to what we have in mind, the show could explore the possibility of Joel becoming a zombie-like partner Sheila after she bites him to save him, of course. Season 4 would be a thrill to watch for zombie fans with the zombie couple hunting off humans and surviving on their flesh.
Santa Clarita Diet: Storyline
Sheila and Joel are real estate agents in Santa Clarita. In a series of events, Sheila undergoes a metamorphosis, which makes her an undead zombie. Consequently, she develops a hunger for human flesh. Joel tries to help her through this sudden conversion of her diet, as they deal with the society, its norms, and understand the origin of this occurrence.
After Netflix canceled the show, the makers of the show Victor Fresco and Tracy Kautsky issued a statement that read, “Netflix took a chance on this odd show, and we will always be grateful for that. They were supportive, ever positive, and appreciative of our work, until about noon today. Still, they were just one phone call away from being a perfect studio. Not bad.”
We can sense the feeling of dismay here. But, it is what it is. Don’t frown, though. Keep your head high; you might just be gifted another season. Who knows!
