Death Note is the Japanese manga series that became a huge hit worldwide due to its anime adaptation and other sequels. And is written by Tsugumi Ohba. And the illustration work is done by Takeshi Obata.
Death Note franchise was first adapted in a manga magazine, Shōnen Jump. It appeared for 3 years. From December 2003 to May 2006. The manga has 108 chapters, which were then published in 12 volumes. The very popular anime adaptation premiered first in Japan from October 3, 2006. I consisted of 37 total episodes. Madhouse developed the anime series, and the director was Tetsurō Araki.
Apart from the anime adaptation, a light novel was also written by Nisio Isin based on the series. The light novel was published in 2006 as well.
The other franchise of Death note includes three live-action films, and a television drama, which released in 2015. A miniseries was also aired as Death Note: New Generation. Subsequently, a fourth film also made its way in 2016. Netflix also released a film adaptation of the manga series on August 24, 2017.
Death Note Season 2: Release date
It’s been more than a decade since the anime adaptation of Death Note premiered, but the question is if the fans will ever receive another season?
It is unlikely that the anime adaptation will have another season. Different sequels have made their way on screens, including live adaptation films and series. No official announcements have been regarding any part of the franchise being renewed. Fans have may have to remain disappointed for a while.
Death Note Season 2: Cast
If the franchise is renewed for either a live-action adaptation series or film, the cast may be entirely new. Fanfiction trailers and movies, have been doing rounds. But we might see entirely new faces. The characters of the manga series include Light Yagami, L Lawliet, Ryuk, Misa Amane and Near.

Death Note Season 2: Plot
Since Death note is based on manga series, if it is renewed for season 2, it may follow the same. Some new twists and turns may be seen. But it entirely depends on how the script will be written.
The basic plot of Death Note revolves around Light Yagami. He is a teenager and a genius. He stumbles upon a supernatural notebook, said to be from the other world. This book is called “Death Note”. The death note originally belonged to Ryuk. The book has powers to grant the user of the book, the power to kill anyone. The name of that person has to be written on the pages of the book.
The series furthermore, involves Yagami’s attempts to use the Death Note. He is on his way to carry out a massacre of people. According to him, these people are considered morally unworthy of life. He wants to change the world into a utopian society, which exists without crime. Yigami, to do all this, takes on the alias of “Kira”.
