Comedy-drama, Atypical received positive reviews from audiences of all ages. The highly anticipated season 4 is all set to be the last and final season of the series. Yes, Atypical is back with season 4. The Netflix original, first premiered on 11th August 2017. Since then three seasons of the series have followed. The first season consisted of 8 episodes. Subsequently, the next two seasons consisted of 10 episodes each.
The series is created by Robia Rashid. The first season of Atypical was highly criticized by critics. Due to its lack of autistic crew members. Furthermore, the series was also called out for its inaccurate showcasing of autism. But in the following seasons, it was appreciated for development. As it involved more autistic writers and artists.
Atypical Season 4: Release Date
Atypical season 3, had its last episode on 1st November 2019. Later, to the delight of fans, the series was renewed for a fourth season. It was officially announced in February 2020, via the series’ Instagram page. Unfortunately, the fourth season is said to be the last and final season of the series. Netflix is ready to bid goodbye to the series after 4 seasons!
No official release date has been set by the streaming platform. In addition to this, there has been no update on the production of the season either. The best we can do is hope that season 4 makes it way no later than 2021.
Atypical Season 4: Cast
No cast has been confirmed by the creators of the show. But we can assure, that the previous members shall return to reprise their roles in season 4. The previous seasons lead cast includes:
Jennifer Jason Leigh, who plays the character of Elsa Gardner, while Keir Gilchrist plays the character of Sam Gardner. Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Casey Gardner, she is the sister of Sam. Amy Okuda plays the character of Julia Sasaki, and Michael Rapaport plays the character of Doug Gardner
Atypical Season 4: Plot
Sam Gardner, faces a lot of challenges as he struggles through life. The series is a depiction of how tough life can be when you’re autistic. His entire school life, he has been bullied. But in all this, he had his younger sister Casey to look out for him.
All of these changes, as Casey shifts to a new school. Leaving Sam to weave through his senior year all alone. Season 4 of the series, may showcase more struggles as life is not easy with autism.
In season 3 of the series, we saw some problems being solved by the finale. Elsa and Doug were shown making peace with each other. This certainly would act as one problem less for Sam in the future. Sam’s friendship with Zahid was also restored. We also saw Zahid be a true friend to Sam.
In season 4, we may see Sam Gardner exploring his life in college. In addition to this, season 4, may also involve Sm’s journey as an independent adult in the real world. He also plans to share rooms With Zahid, so we can see how that works out. We can hope that other characters of the show, are also given an end which satisfactory.
Atypical Season 4: Storyline
The premise of the series revolves around an 18-year old autistic teenager. It involves the daily struggles of an individual with an autistic spectrum disorder. Sam Gardner, navigates through life with help of his wonderful, and supporting family.
