Notwithstanding the similarity in the title, this Netflix series doesn’t share much with MCU’s Thor: Ragnarok. Except that both of them feature the Norse God of thunder, Thor. Premiering on 31st January this year, Ragnarok is a Norwegian fantasy tv series. So far, the show has released one season containing six episodes. Adam Price has written the series and Mogens Hagedorn serves as the director. Additionally, it also became a commercial success and gained good viewership numbers.
Ragnarok Season 2: Release date
Owing to the fan reception the first season got, Ragnarok was renewed for season two. Netflix announced the second season in March this year. But, we’re still waiting for confirmation on the release date. Furthermore, we don’t even know whether the filming has begun. Regardless, it’s safe to say that production would start anytime soon. Since the current pandemic has halted production of all other movies and tv series. For now, we predict the season two to release late next year, or in 2022.
Ragnarok Season 2: Possible cast
Netflix has not revealed much about the upcoming season. So, we can only guess who will be in the cast in season two. Though the new season will certainly feature David Stakston who portrays Magne Seier. Joining him, Theresa Frostad Eggesbø is also expected to return as Saxa. In addition, Herman Tømmeraas will be reprising his role of Fjor. Other actors such as Jonas Strand Gravli (playing Laurits Seier); Emma Bones (Gry); Henriette Steenstrup (Turid) etc will also join the cast. Though whether Gísli Örn Garðarsson will return as Vidar, remains to be seen.
Ragnarok Season 2: Expected plot
As stated before, right now, we know next to nothing about the second season. Though we can assume the plot of the next season. After the events of the previous season, we don’t know if Vidar is still alive. However, we do expect Magne to face off against the remaining Jutuls. Furthermore, viewers might be introduced to new races of giants and Gods in the upcoming season.
However, Magne will surely be getting more powerful and learn more about his true heritage. There are also strong rumours about Laurits being Loki, the Norse trickster god. If this turns out to be true, the dynamic between the two brothers would also change drastically.
