Crusader Kings II is a strategy based video game, set in the middle ages. Paradox Development Studio is the developer of the grand strategy game. At the same time, the publisher is Paradox Interactive.

Crusader Kings II is a sequel to Crusader Kings and premiered for Microsoft Windows On February 14 2012.  Later, on May 24, 2012, an OS X version made way as Paradox Interactive’s first in-house development for the operating system. Along with the OS X version, a Linux version also premiered on January 14 2013. The video game received positive reviews from gamers and critics alike. Until now, 1 million copies of the game have been sold, which made it the most successful game of Paradox, until Europa Universalis IV.

Furthermore, by October 2019, they released the game as free to play. The developers also released a demo in February 2012. The demo featured four characters over 20 years. Moreover, for marketing and advertising, the Crusader Kings also featured videos of light comedy genres, based on the seven deadly sins.

Much to the delight of gamers, Crusader King III, A sequel to Crusader Kings II, will release on 1ST September 2020. The pre-bookings are on their way already for the sequel, along with the release of a teaser.

Crusader Kings II: Setting

The game begins in the middle ages and follows the player in a medieval dynasty from 1066 to 1452. It is a dynasty simulator, where the gamer can start from any date between the pre-set years, for example, from January 1, 1066, to December 31, 1337. However, the players from the Old Gods and Charlemagne DLCs can begin earlier, from 867 and 769, respectively. Furthermore, with the iron century update, gamers can start from 936. To achieve success for their Dynasty, players strategically use war, marriages, and assassinations, along with other things.

The characters of the game consist of various historical figures, including the likes of:

  • Robert the Bruce,

However, Crusader Kings also allows the player to choose among lesser-known figures, as dukes, counts. Moreover, the game lets the player design their own, newer characters through the Ruler Designer DLC.

Crusader Kings II: Gameplay

To achieve success in their Dynasty, the player must solely depend on themselves. The in-game objective is to obtain prestige and gain as many piety points as possible. The game has three most prestigious dynasties: the Capetian, the Rurikid, and the Habsburg. The player must surpass the significant European regimes in a fictional prestige order. The ending of the game is when the controlled character dies and has no heir to inherit his\ her fortunes. It also marked as the end, when the titles received are stripped from the court members, including the player’s characters’. Furthermore, the game is over when the character reaches the last year, 1452.  If the player is in the observer mode, the game, therefore, continues further.

Crusader King consists of a genetics and education system. Here, the heirs inherit all the traits, culture, religion, and skills. This system is an addition to the strategy of marriages, as this will result in beneficial alliances to strengthen the Dynasty.

Furthermore, the player can choose any historical figure to play. But the characters also include government types, which are unplayable, unless performed after modding the game. Such roles include Theocracies, holy orders, republics, and mercenaries. However, the merchant republic government characters are playable with the expansion of the republic.  Also, all non-Christian roles cannot play as, without the DLC unlocking the. The DLC must be purchased to unlock Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, Zoroastrians, Jains, Zionists, and various Pagans.

With this, other performances of other controls are thriving, including setting up rivals or lovers, giving gold, and add or take away traits. Furthermore, with the kill command, you can murder people.

Later, one can reach until the year 1077, while using their character as a Spy and revolting behavior. Moreover, all the issues receive permission through AI. The character can go further, with things running smoothly and gaining points quickly.
