Anne with an E, the Canadian Television Series, which released three of its seasons might not go into the third season.
The series, which is based on the novel Anne of Green Gables, which came out in 1908, premiered for the first time on 19 March 2017 on CBC.
The story of the series revolves around brother and sister, Matthew and Marilla, who decide to adopt a boy. They instead are forced to adopt a girl finally when they find a young and talkative girl named Anne Shirley at the railway station. Anne comes to live with them but always manages to run into some kind of trouble. But in the end, she wins their hearts.
It started Amybeth McNulty and Geraldine James in lead roles.
The series was largely successful, with it receiving mostly favorable reviews and critical reception.
The acting skills of the protagonist of the show, Anne, played by Amybeth McNulty, were praised.
The series, however, would not return for season 4.
Netflix has canceled the show for a fourth season. Therefore, as for now, the show might not return for a season 4, much to the disappointment of the ardent fans of the show, who have been waiting.
The prime reason for the failure of the return of the series, cited by the producer of the series was that even though the show had a decent fan base, it failed to attract younger audiences. The show was reported to be popular among the age groups 25-54 yrs.
Also, the show’s viewership on the platform that it first aired, CBC was not a lot as compared to its viewership on Netflix.
A petition has been started by the fans of the show on change.org. The news that the show might not return for a Season 4 was obviously upsetting for the fans of the show.
