Taboo is a political thriller and historical fiction web TV drama series. The series is based on a story written by Tom Hardy and Chips Hardy. They are also the creators of the series along with Steven Knight. The first season consisting of eight episodes was released on BBC One in the UK on January 7, 2017. After the release in the UK, the series was also aired on FX in the US on January 10, 2017. In March 2017, the series got renewed for a second season.
When is it releasing?
The second season was most probably going to be released in 2020. The action crime series took longer to be produced and write, and hence a gap of three whole years. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the release of the season has been delayed. Now we expect it to be out by mid-2021.
The story is set back in 1814 when the war of the United Kingdom with the US was coming to an end. James Delaney was returning to England after spending twelve years in Africa but with fourteen stolen diamonds. The series showcased the dark side of London during those days.
But James’ father dies suddenly, and his mother belongs to an American tribe. We see that he possesses a tattoo in his body but has no idea or information regarding it. In the second season, we expect to know the secret behind it and many more revelations on its way.
No confirmation about the cast of the second season is available to us yet. But most probably the same cast is expected to return, including:
- Tom Hardy as James Keziah Delaney
- Leo Bill as Benjamin Wilton, a records officer with the EIC
- Jessie Buckley as Lorna Delaney, James’ mother
- Oona Chaplin as Zilpha Geary, James’ half-sister
- Stephen Graham as Atticus, an underworld informant to James
No trailer has been released as of now, but a soon official update by the production about the release date and trailer is expected.
