Emilia Clark discusses her time as Daenerys Targaryen and how Game of Thrones Season 8 worked the living hell out of her! Season 8 was probably thr most effect driven season as of yet because almost every episode featured a battle scene or a CGI dragon scene, and that isn’t as easy as it looks, specially for Daenerys as this season featured more than an hour of screentime on CGI dragons.
While most fans are still upset about how the Game Of Thrones saga was brought to an abrupt end, to fit the ‘bittersweet’ predicament as predicted by George. R. R. Martin. Emilia Clark was moved with mercurial dive her arc took, her character Daenerys Targaryen was one of the most popular leaders on the show, even dubbed as the “only sane Targaryen”, she was definitely the queen we deserved, but not the one we needed.
The total reversal of Daenerys’ character projected an antipodal aspect towards everything she was fighting against, it somehow reflected what Cersei feared, in the end she did burn them all. Emilia Clark had several things to say about her dictatorial speech which mocked the contemporary governments and also established a myth in the fantasy fiction-lore. Thus it had to be spot on, without any change.
In an interview that went viral, Emilia Clark said, “I’m being so brutally honest here — I was in hell learning that speech. This pretend language was literally eating me up. I couldn’t do it.” The narrative’s function is to create or maintain some sort of symbolic relevance with the people, thus connecting with everyone necessitated the importance of the speech.
Although, the ending, was nothing less than poetic-justice, somehow, there is an empty hole which ails our heart; we cannot come to terms with the fact that Daenerys would do such a thing, and neither can we accept that Jon would kill her. Emilia Clark and Kit Harington are brilliant friends off-screen and they cherished each others company on screen.
Emilia revealed that she had loads of fun working on the last season and she was somehow expecting the kind of reaction the fans gave her, I mean, honestly we judged Daenerys for burning kings landing, that’s first degree murder thru third degree burn……yeah, well.
