American anthology crime drama, True Detective, is a television series created and written by Nic Pizzolatto. The series first got premiered on January 12, 2014, on the HBO network in the United States. The series contains an independent set of episodes and has new cast ensembles and a new story in each episode. The genre of the series is an anthology, crime drama, detective, mystery, and neo-noir.

The first series did remarkably well and gained brilliant reviews from critics and high ratings from HBO. It got nominated and even won many awards, which majorly included acting, cinematography, writing, and direction. The scenario was pretty different for the second season. It got mixed reviews. But in spite of that, the viewership remained high for HBO. This was followed by the third season, which despite receiving good remarks, experienced a downfall in the number of viewers.

Release Date of the Upcoming Season

There are no announcements made regarding the release of the renewal of the fourth season by the officials so far. But it can be said that the show might get completely produced by the initials of the year 2021.

Due to the second season, which turned into a casualty, HBO wouldn’t want to jump right into it and rush the fourth season to release. Pizzolatto having his good thinking space, is expected to be HBO’s top priority in order to produce a premium quality show!

True Detective Season 4 Plot Setup

The fourth season is also going to be an anthology plot taking place within multiple time periods. Even though the audience has been waiting to watch the return of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, but it’s uncertain to say that this is what is likely to happen. Rather, high chances of the season to be circling around child kidnapping rings are there.

True Detective Season 4 Cast

Forest Whitaker as Detective Lester Renner, Uma Thurman as Detective Charlie Pullman, Josh Brolin as Bruce Compton, Benicio Del Toro as Jorge Vendimos will be starring as the main cast.

Michiel Huisman as Detective Cody Prior, Naomie Harris as Alicia Harrison, RJ Cyler as Malik, and Gina Carano as TBA would appear recurringly.
