With the cancellation of season 3 of “The Punisher”, its the end for the multi-series partnership between The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Netflix. There, we said it! The series first premiered on Netflix on November 17, 2017, with its second season releasing back in January 2019 and since then fans had been waiting for the announcement of season 3.

The series is a spin-off of Marvel’s “Daredevil” and is based on Marvel comic character of the same name. For the uninitiated, the series revolves around the life of former force recon marine Frank Castle after his whole family is brutally murdered. He became known as “The Punisher” across the city of New York because of his brutal and merciless way of serving justice to the criminals who were responsible for the death of his family. Jonathan Edward Bernthal is seen essaying the character of Frank Castle aka The Punisher. The cast members also included Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ben Barnes, Amber Rose Revah, Danil Webber, Paul Schulze, Jason R Moore, Michael Nathanson, Deborah Ann Woll, Josh Stewart among others.

Season 1 saw Castle living under a false identity and working as a part of a demolition crew until he is lured out by a mysterious man named “Micro” essayed by Ebon Moss . The two then form an alliance to take down Agent Orange essayed by Paul Schulze.

Season 2 saw Castle saving a girl from being murdered which forced him to decide on whether he should embrace and continue as The Punisher.

The show was received quite well by the audience and critics equally.  Despite the portrayal of violence which could have landed the show in a soup of controversy, the series did well as it also dealt with a wide range of issues starting from gun control to how veterans deal with post-traumatic stress.

For those who have a knack for action-themed series, this is worth your time! Grab your popcorn and start binge-watching!
