Star wars obi wan series for Disney plus will be coming as soon as the production is finished. Lucasfilm confirmed on Friday that Disney Plus’ new Obi-Wan Kenobi series has a director, and she’s Deborah Chow, who also directed episodes of the streaming service’s upcoming Star Wars show The Mandalorian.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement that- “We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga,” He also added that- “Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in The Mandalorian, I’m absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story.”

Ewan McGregor will be playing Obi-Wan Kenobi once more. He played the character in the Star Wars prequel trilogy movies, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.Obi-Wan was first played by Alec Guinness  in the original Star Wars 1977 movie. He died in 2000.

The Obi-Wan series will be coming eight years after the events of 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, where we last saw Obi-Wan watching over Luke Skywalker, the secret child of Darth Vader, on Tatooine. It is expected that show will be set approximately around the time of Solo: A Star Wars Story, a few years before A New Hope. Only this much about the series has been confirmed.

A few things can be guessed about the series.Like  there is a lot of chances that it will feature the force ghost of Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn. After all, in Revenge of the Sith, Yoda traced that Obi-Wan may be able to contact his old master after he returned from “netherworld of the Force”.Fans are hoping to get the answers of the questions about Obi-Wan. Like why does he call himself ‘Ben Kenobi’ in A New Hope? How is he so familiar with Mos Eisley? And did he have adventures outside Tatooine during his wilderness years?

The Obi-Wan series will be written by Hossein Amini (The Alienist). Chow, Amini and McGregor will take to jobs of executive producers alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Tracey Seaward (The Queen) and John Swartz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). Jason McGatlin, Lucasfilm’s executive vice president of production, will serve as co-producer.

The series will launch on a new streaming platform Disney+, a service going to be launched in the USA, Canada and the Netherlands on Tuesday 12th November 2019.Disney+ will be available in the UK, but a launch date for that has not been confirmed yet.

The series currently does not have any release date. But it has been reported that all scripts have been written and the filming will start in 2020.

This show is indeed a most waited show by Star Wars fans. Fans will be happy to hear that it is finally coming.
