The crown is a period drama that shows the story of Queen Elizabeth ΙΙ from the 1940s, covering every royal aspect of the royal family. It features the lineage of the royal family of London, dating back from 1947. Peter Morgan has both created and written the show. Based on the authentic play “The Audience,” this lavish, Netflix-original, has covered the early 1970’s of the royalty in the three seasons that have been streamed yet.
The show debuted on Netflix in November 2016. A second season followed in December 2017, with the third one releasing in November 2019. Each season contained 10 episodes with a total number of 30 episodes released so far.
The crown is now in the production of season 4, and Netflix has not cancelled the filming of the show.
The show will soon be releasing it’s fourth season, which will be focusing on the early 1980s and the further years of the crown family.
The Production continues and Coronavirus is no hindrance…
The filming of the season is continuing with the production work of the new season despite the Coronavirus spread. Netflix is cancelling the production of some of the popular shows of the streaming channel, which also contains The Witcher, but the list doesn’t include The Crown.

The filming of the fourth season started in August 2019 and completed in February 2020. Morgan confirmed that the show will wrap with its fifth and final season. This makes the upcoming season the second last one.

- Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles

- Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher, the Prime Minister
With the shootings for the fourth season over, the show is in its post-production phase right now. However, there is no release date confirmed for the fourth season of the show yet. We have received good news for the fans that one of the actors hinted on the releasing of the show. Josh O’Connor, who portrays Prince Charles in the third season has said in an interview that some episodes of the season 4 will be released by the end of 2020.
