Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the release dates of many shows have been pushed back. But the good news for the fans of ‘The Last Kingdom’ is that the 4th season of the series will positively air on April 26, 2020, as announced by Netflix. The shooting for the 4th season had already been wrapped up in 2019 due to which the next installment is all set to be released without any problems.
The British historical fiction television series based on Bernard Cornwell’s series of novels- ‘The Saxons Stories’ is quite popular among the audience across the globe. The story is set in the late 9th century A.D. when England was divided into seven separate kingdoms. As Alfred the Great defends his kingdom from Norse invaders, Uhtred- born a Saxon but raised by Vikings- seeks to claim his ancestral birthright. The plot is full of conquests, bloody battles, betrayals, conflicts, and lots of ale drinking.
Aside from the amazing plot and setting, the show also boasts of a spectacular cast such as- Alexander Dreymon as Uhtred of the Bebbanburg, David Dawson, like King Alfred, Emily Cox, as Brida, Ian Hart as Beocca and many more amazing actors and actresses.
Given that the official release date of 4th season has been confirmed, and seeing the popularity of the show, it is highly unlikely that the show will end with just four seasons. So far, no predictions can be made about the 5th season, but it is speculated that the creators could soon update the viewers about it.
There is not much clarity about the plot of the 4th season, but seeing the way the show follows the novels of Bernard Cornwell, it is highly likely this trend will continue further. The fact, however, is confirmed that the show is sure to bring along a lot of excitement, action, and thrill in the next installment.
